The band started in late 2012 as a resurrection of another gathering which included lead artist/guitarist Jay Sakong and percussionist Ryan Vargas who both went to a similar secondary school in Woodbridge, NJ. Sakong later met guitarist/keyboardist Seamus O'Connor while both went to the Establishment of Sound Exploration in New York City. Musician/keyboardist Jane Park, a cherished companion of Sakong's, would in the long run join the gathering which would later progress toward becoming OWEL. Bassist Nunzio Moudatsos, another secondary school companion of Sakong and Vargas, would join the band in 2015 after a few part changes.

OWEL is an elective outside the box musical gang framed in Woodbridge, NJ in late 2012. The band at present comprises of Jay Sakong (lead vocal, guitar, keys), Nunzio Moudatsos (bass, vocals), Seamus O'Connor (guitar, keys, vocals), and Ryan Vargas (percussion). The band marked to Break even with Vision Records in 2016.

I knew everybody from various purposes of my life. Jane since I was a child, Ryan and Nunzio from secondary school, and I took a sound building course with Seamus. When I was considering assembling a gathering of individuals to play music with I just idea of the general population that were at that point in my life that I thought would be enjoyable to work with.

The band discharged their introduction, self-titled LP on Walk 29, 2019 by means of boutique name intheclouds records. The collection was recorded at The Machine Shop in Bellville, NJ, created by Sakong, blended and aced by Will Putney.


In 2016 the band marked with Equivalent Vision Records and discharged Dear Me on November 11, 2016.[6] Dear Me was co-delivered by Sakong alongside Kevin Color, vocalist of the band Entryways, at AudioPilot Studios in Boonton, NJ.

In help of the arrival of Dear Me the band left on different visits supporting the Dirt and the Sun, Mae, and A Great deal Like Winged animals between November 2016 and June 2017.

On August 9, 2017 the band reported by means of its online life pages that they were agreeably going separate ways with musician/keyboardist Jane Park. A last exhibition with Park is prospective and the band has prodded different pictures via web-based networking media of a studio session together in late August 2017. On October 13, 2017, it was reported that Patti Kilroy was their new musician.
