With this album, the main thing we tried to do was have every single song sound completely different than everything else,” Billie Eilish told Beats 1 host Zane Lowe. “If you put 14 people who like different genres into a room and plop WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? in front of them, I want every single person in that room to like at least one song.”
Perhaps one of the songs you will like is the plaintive, provocative new single “wish you were gay,” which is about absolving yourself of responsibility for a flagging relationship. “It's a selfish song,” Eilish told Zane. "It's a goofy, selfish joke. It’s like, I wish for my own sake that you didn't like me because you don't like girls. Not because it's anything to do with me.”
Add WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? now, and once it's released, the entire album will be available in your library instantly.
Billie Eilish has announced her debut album and confirmed that her next single drops today (January 30).
The rising star’s album, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’, will follow her debut EP, ‘Don’t Smile at Me’ (2017) and a string of standalone singles.
When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (stylized in all uppercase) is the upcoming debut studio album by American singer Billie Eilish, set to be released on March 29, 2019. The songs "You Should See Me in a Crown" and "When the Party's Over" were released as the first two singles from the album. The third single, "Bury a Friend", was released with the album pre-order on January 30, 2019. The fourth single, "Wish You Were Gay", was released on March 4, 2019. Most of the album's tracks were written during the production of Eilish's 2017 EP Don't Smile at Me. These songs were supposed to be part of an album that was to be released in the summer of 2017. Instead, Don't Smile at Me was released. On March 21, 2019, the album reached 800,000 pre-saves on Apple Music, the most of any artist.
A release date for her debut album has not been announced though Eilish has shared the cover art: a photo of her with blank eyes sitting on the edge of a bed.
Yesterday (January 29) the 17-year-old teased the album’s title track – released today at 5pm GMT – with a short video that shows her head being gripped by hands in black gloves.“What do you want from me? Why don’t you run from me? What are you wondering? What do you know?” she sings in the clip.
The artist released ‘When I Was Younger’ earlier this month, which is on the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated film Roma.
On March 20, 2018, Eilish confirmed that she was working on an album and that it would be released towards the end of the year.[2] In July 2018, during an interview with BBC Radio 1, she announced that the album is expected to be out on March 29, 2019.[3] On January 14, 2019, it was reported that Eilish was in the process of mastering the album.[4][5] On January 29, she formally announced the album's title and revealed its cover art on her Instagram. She simultaneously teased a new single, "Bury a Friend", which was released the following day along with album pre-order.
