Eilish and her brother Finneas, who produces her music,[27] collaborate on songwriting.[28][29] She said Finneas, who also performs with her on live shows, is her partner in making music.[28] Eilish and her brother "like to completely make up things and become characters. We like to have songs that are really fictional."[29] Eilish said a number of the songs they write also derive from her and Finneas' experiences: "A lot of the time we go through the same stuff, so it's a mixture of what he's going through and what I'm going through.
