Khalid is an American singer and songwriter. In 2016, his debut single Location reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, eventually certified quadruple platinum. In 2017 he released his debut album, American Teen, garnering a positive reception. In 2019 he will release his sophomore album Free Spirit, due out April 5 on RCA. Khalid has formally announced his sophomore album. The record is titled Free Spirit and is set for release on April 5th. Its cinematic cover artwork can be seen below.

“Talk”, Khalid’s recent collaboration with Disclosure, is expected to appear on the effort. All other details regarding the full tracklist and any additional special guests will be revealed March 7th when the LP becomes available for pre-order.

Accompanying the album is a short film of the same name. Its story was written by Khalid himself with the help of Emil Nava, a British music video director who’s previously collaborated with Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding, and Post Malone. Free Spirit the movie hits theaters for just one day on April 3rd, and all screenings will feature listening sessions for the new album.

Meanwhile, Free Spirit the record follows Khalid’s 2017 breakthrough debut, American Teen, which earned the R&B prodigy two Grammy nominations and a Best New Artist win at the MTV VMAs. The forthcoming LP also follows 2018’s Suncity EP and “lovely”, his stellar track with Billie Eilish, our Rookie of the Year.

Khalid will serve as the musical guest on the March 9th episode of Saturday Night Live, so expect the debut of more new music during that performance. Khalid will appear at multiple festivals over the next few months, including Coachella, Hangout Festival in Alabama, Tennessee’s Beale Street, and Lollapalooza Berlin. Grab tickets here.

Free Spirit is the upcoming second studio album by Khalid, set to be released on April 5, 2019, through RCA Records. The album will become available to pre-order from March 7.[1] It is the follow-up to his 2018 EP Suncity,[2] and is expected to include the single “Talk”, as that was called the lead single from Khalid’s second album.[3][4] Khalid also announced the release of a short film directed by Emil Nava to accompany the album.

In October 2018, Khalid released an EP, Suncity, on October 19, 2018 through RCA Records.[27][28] The EP debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200.[29] The album also spawned the song “Saturday Nights”, later remixed to feature country artist Kane Brown.
