In 2019, she started visiting in the US with Brent Cobb.[4] She played a feature occasion at South by South West in Austin, Texas in Walk 2017 and later in the year she opened for Emergency treatment Pack, Child Little and London Grammar.[9][7] Bird's band comprises of Will Rees (Puzzle Planes) on guitar, Matt Johnson on drums and bassist Linus Fenton. In 2017, Jade Bird won the Stay 2017 honor of the Reeperbahn Celebration in Hamburg.[5] She was a finalist for the BBC Sound Of honor in 2018. Her presentation EP, "Something American", was recorded in the Catskill Mountains in Palenville and Woodstock in upstate New York.

Bird and her family lived in London when she was two years of age and on a German army installation when she was five. Her folks isolated when she was seven or eight years and she moved to Bridgend, South Ribs to live with her grandma and mom, where she went to Bryntirion Extensive School. She started adapting piano at age eight and beginning playing guitar and composing melodies when she was 12. At age 16, she moved back to London with her mom and stepfather to go to the BRIT School in Croydon which she moved on from in 2016. While at the BRIT School, she performed gigs a few times each week.
Amid her Piano Session with Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 in October 2017, she noticed that she had gone around as a kid due to being in a Military family. She lived in South Ribs, Chesterfield and Mönchengladbach, Germany which affected her music.
