Snarky Puppy discharged their introduction collection, Live at Uncommon Ground (never again in print), in 2005. Their initial four collections were discharged autonomously, after which they authorized the collections Tell Your Friends, groundUP, Family Dinner – Volume One, and We Like It Here to Ropeadope Records.

Snarky Puppy is a Brooklyn-based "...fusion-impacted jam band. driven by bassist, author, and maker Michael League. Snarky Puppy joins jazz, shake, and funk and has won three Grammy Awards.[2] Although the gathering has since included vocalists and has supported artists, League once portrayed Snarky Puppy as "a pop band that ad libs a great deal, without vocals"
The band was framed by Michael League in Denton, Texas, in 2004 and involves "...a wide-extending array of artists referred to lovingly as 'the Fam'. around 40 players who perform on guitar, bass, consoles, woodwinds, metal, strings, drums, and percussion. Many band individuals were understudies at the University of North Texas. Singular individuals have performed with Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Justin Timberlake, Kirk Franklin, Ari Hoenig, Roy Hargrove, David Crosby, Snoop Dogg, and others. The collection We Like It Here was performed and recorded live in October 2013 at the creative compound Kytopia in Utrecht, Netherlands. It was discharged in February 2014, appearing at number one on the iTunes Jazz Charts.
On January 26, 2014, Snarky Puppy, with vocalist Lalah Hathaway, won a Grammy Award in the Best R&B Performance class for their version of the Brenda Russell tune "Something" from Family Dinner – Volume 1.
Sylva (2015), a coordinated effort with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra on Impulse! Records, appeared on different Billboard graphs, including number one on the Heatseekers Chart, number one Top Current Jazz Album, and number one Contemporary Jazz Album. In 2016, the collection won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
In the wake of winning their second Grammy, the gathering was marked to Universal Music Group's Universal Music Classics name. Their second discharge on the mark, Culcha Vulcha won the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.
